The rural location of our day-care facility, in the immediate vicinity of the forest, supports our conceptual focus — a nature-focused day-care center. On approximately 1,000 square metres of outdoor space, children find ample opportunities to follow their natural need for movement and their exploratory spirits to have a wide range of experiences with living and non-living nature.
In the facility, 60 children from the age of 2 to school entry can be cared for in four home groups. In doing so, we work according to a situation-oriented and semi-open approach. Our educational staff see themselves as companions and supporters in the educational and developmental process. Our task is to support children in the individual development of their own personality, to strengthen their competencies, to give them impulses to acquire new knowledge, and to promote their curiosity and creativity.
A healthy, varied diet is a fundamental part of our day-care center concept and is reflected in health-promoting main and snack meals as well as drink services. Our facility offers daily fresh and healthy full-day catering. Cooperations with local networks are important to us; for example, our older children visit PSV to participate in children’s sports. We also make good use of the diverse services of the puppet theatre at the Anhaltisches Theater. At the same time, we annually offer preschool children the “Waldfüchse” (Forest Foxes) project of the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald.
“When you play enough while you are small, you carry treasures within you from which you can draw all your life.” Based on this guiding principle of Astrid Lindgren, our educational work is built. What is important to us is that children have the opportunity to try out different forms of play and thus gain experience on various levels, because play is one of the most effective forms of learning.
